Active Flooding Mitigation for Stability Enhancement in a Damaged RoPax Ship

In the framework of EU project Flooding Accident Response (FLARE), flooding mitigation on a RoPax ship was studied using different active methods to improve safety in damage cases leading hull breach and flooding. Adding control systems designs ships service, which would mitigate effects case, could be an attractive way safety. order promote this idea, such measures were studied: choice them, required application speed their functionality waves, numerical modeling finally testing them with model scale tests. The following (1) counter flooding, (2) recovery lost buoyancy damaged compartment, (3) deploying watertight barrier trailer deck. This study consists simulations carried out program HSVA Rolls chosen current design, without measures, tests based priori computations.
